I'm not dead

Posted by ChimChime Mar. 6, 2009 @ 11:42 PM EST

Hello, you (1) people that come here! I'm not dead, but I've been busy. Yeah, for a time I pondered whether or not I would finish Death in a Nutshell. The night I thought about that, I fell asleep disgruntled and infuriated; Strangely enough, I dreamt about the story. I saw it all play out in my head, and it went past chapter 4. Or 3, I forget which one is the last one I posted. Regardless, I saw the story finish! I've got a ton of ideas I think are pretty cool, so I'm looking forward to writing more about Croath, and all the things you don't know about yet ;D

EDIT: I'll give some small hints at what you might or might not see in D.I.A.N.S
TIME TRAVEL (Still thinking about this one. Could be difficult.)
HEAVY Moral Dilemas.
Wierd Al (I really want to incude this. I don't know if I can, though. I have to figure out a clever way to put him in; My story is not going to be a comedy.)

Death in a Nutshell Ch. 3

Posted by ChimChime Jan. 25, 2009 @ 8:38 PM EST

FINALLY, I managed to write this. I couldn't think of any ideas to do, and then I remembered I wrote an outline for the story XD Don't yell at me because there's not a whole ton of action in this chapter; If I didn't explain this stuff now, the story would be confusing to the point of insanity.
Sorry for the wait, but without further ado, I give you "Death in a Nutshell, Chapter 3."

Death in a Nutshell Chapter 3
Destiny

"Errr.. Kid? You there?"
The skull slapped my face a few times, his bony fingers brittle and lifeless.
"Hey. Kid!"
My mouth hung wide open, drool starting to pool in one corner.
The skull muttered something under his breath; I couldn't hear what it was, but it had a menacing tone to it.
"Ummm... What... What just happened?" I was incredibly confused. What the heck was happening to me?
"Finally, you speak!" The skull lifted his arms in the air, and spoke with excessive grandiose.
"Alright, Croath,"
"How do you know my name?"
"Will you let me finish? Croath, you just died."
"What the heck?" I jumped forward to the skull, and started begging. Tears streamed uncontrollably from my eyes.
"NO! I can't die! I haven't gotten a job, or played Bioshock, for god sakes, I haven't even gone on a date with a girl!!"
I threw my arms around this stranger, shaking him. In one quick motion, he brushed me off and threw me to the floor. It appeared as though he had much practice.
"Okay... Stop begging. It is unbefitting of a Reaper." He said, glaring down at me. His eyes burned with fury; The fire where his eyes should have been did that. He didn't actually have eyes, just a fire inside his eye sockets, eternally burning.
"Listen, we need to head to the Underworld. Time is running out."
And with that, the skull snatched my hair and dragged me out the hospital door. I quickly looked back; Rin was still unconscious, and Mentis was still bashing his head against the wall. A dent was starting to form on both Mentis and the poor, defenseless wall.
"Hey, let go!" I cried. I really didn't feel like being kidnapped by a talking skull.
"Okay!" My captor said jubilantly. With a grin on his face, he let go of my hair.
"See ya in the Underworld!" He yelled, laughing maniacally.
"Thank you. That was quite uncomforta- WHOA!" In a second, I was somewhere else.

I groaned. I felt as though I had bumped my head against rock. I looked around, attempting (to no avail) to drink in my surroundings.
The scenery had changed entirely. No longer was I in a pristine hospital, surrounded by devoted doctors. I was in a grimy, dirty dungeon cell. Rats scurried about the stone floor, chasing after cockroaches which crawled all around. Massive spider webs dominated the corners of the room, numerous bugs entrapped within. A set of rusted steel bars prevented any attempts at escaped.
I was speechless, utterly shocked. Soon, I collapsed onto the unforgiving ground.
A familiar voice called to me, and a strange feeling came over me. Comfort, I think, but it could just as easily been fear.
"Yo, kid. Get up. It's explanation time."
I stood up; I was in no position to disobey anyone. Walking towards the bars of the cell, I glanced outside. Mr. Skull was standing by the bars, his skeletal arms crossed across his chest.
You're probably wondering what just happened, right?"
I was about to say "Of course!" but with a wave of his hand, Mr. Skull silenced me.
"You, Croath, just died. All humans die in the end, but destiny had a special plan for you. This is all going to be very hard to grasp, so just keep yer yap shut till I finish talking.
"By the way, my name is Ossis, but you can call me Os. I'm what you call a Teacher; I teach people like you how to be a good Reaper." Os sighed. "This is all so hard... Let me start from the beginning." He muttered something about his job, and began anew.

"Alright... What you just experienced is called a Death. A Death is the process of your physical body taking too much damage, and, basically, giving up. Inside your body, you have a soul. That is what you and I are right now. When you Die, your body releases your soul, and a Reaper comes and picks you up, or, if your going to become a Reaper, I pick you up!" He smiled.
I didn't have a clue what he was rambling about, but I sensed it was important.
"I need to simplify this for you, don't I?" With a small trace of stupidity, I nodded.
"Hmm... Think of it like this; Your body is a prison, keeping your soul trapped inside. When the prison takes too much damage, it shatters, and the prisoner inside it released. Get it?"
"Umm.. Sure... Sorta..."
"Alright! Now that we have that out of the way, we can move on to why you exist, your job, and the nuts and bolts of killing people!"
Silence followed that last part.
"You'll get used to it." Os said, chuckling a bit as he did.
"This part is pretty lengthy. You might want to have a seat." Os pointed behind me, and a chair appeared. It was pure black, with skulls attached at every imaginable location.
This day was getting progressively stranger.

I sat down, and Os began to speak. His voice was deep and sage-like, much different than the playful and cheery tone he had used before.

"You, Croath, are a Reaper. A Reaper is a special soul, chosen by an ancient and powerful method at birth, whose purpose in Death is to make the world a better place. How do you do that, you ask? You cleanse the Earth of those who would harm it. You are bestowed with the power of Darkness and Light, and use it as you see fit, to further the world's progress." Os glared at me, looking quite impatient.
"You look pretty lost."
It was true. I had no idea what he was blabbering about.
"Let's put it this way. Say... Say a man was robbing a bank, and had taken several hostages. You could choose to kill him and stop the robbery, or let him live. That choice is not as black and white as you think."
Os shot a grave look at me.
"What would you do?"
I answered, sure my response was correct.
"I would kill the robber, save the hostages, and rid the world of one cruel soul."
Os laughed at me, wiping tears from his eyes.
"New kids always say that. If you were to kill him, another man in the crowd would become scared and confused, take the robber's weapons and kill every, single person in the bank!"
Shocked, a questioned that logic.
"How do you know that?! Why would that happen!?"
Os was calm and cool. He lifted his head up; Apparently it wasn't attached to his head.
"Let's see... Where is my list..." He fumbled about inside his skull for a little while, searching for something. He poked through his fiery eyes, his hand unscathed by them, and prodded around every place imaginable inside his head.
"...Ah ha! Here it is!" Os brandished a piece of lined paper, college rule, and shoved it in my face.
"That small list is called a Guide. When you use it, it shows you a list of results pertaining to your actions as a Reaper!"
Again, I had no idea what he was saying.
"Here, let me put it in your terms." Os said, snickering a bit as he did.
"If you are thinking of killing someone, then the list will you show the consequences of that action. The same occurs when you attempt to save someone. Can you understand that, little human?"
"Um... Yeah. I get it. But how exactly do I kill, or save, someone?" I asked. It really didn't look like I had a choice as to whether or not I wanted to become a Reaper, so I might as well learn my job well.
"I'm glad you asked!" Os was speaking like a man from an infomercial.
"To kill someone, you simply stride up to them..." Os did just that to me.
"Reach inside their heart..." He now pointed to my heart.
"And snatch it away! To save someone, you imbue them with Light. That is really simple. All you do is say 'Light protect you!' and BAM! Instant life saving! Did you get all that?"
It seemed simple enough.
"Yeah, I got it."
"Good! Because that, Croath, is Death in a nutshell."

Wonderful. Killing people and being an omen of death and pain.

"So, when do I get my Guide?"
Os sat down on the cell floor.
"Right now. You're going on a job right now."
"Isn't it too soon? What if I really screw up the world?" That was one of my main concerns.
"Oh, you won't. You'll just be collecting some old geezer's soul. She lived a good life, and will be missed, but her passage to the land of Heaven will be quick and easy. Your guide will tell you where she is."

Os handed me a Guide, crinkled and torn in some places, and pointed to the side of my cell.
"See that?"
A door was embedded in the stone wall, made of pure steel. It didn't have a knob, just a sign that read "Push!". I was surprised I didn't notice it before.
"See ya later, Croath! I'll evaluate your results once you've got her soul!"
I turned to face the door, as Os watched me. I pushed against it, and felt it was freezing cold and very firm. I had trouble opening it; It was hard to do.
Perhaps it represents the task I have been given...Finally, I managed to open it. A bright flash of light greeted me, along with a rush of warm air. I seemed to be high above a bustling city. I could see tall skyscrapers, birds flying around, and an extremely busy street.
"Go on, jump!" Os prodded, his voice sharp.
"If you say so. I've already died once..."

I stepped forward, entering a freefall.
Whether I was crazy, and had just imagined everything, or this was really happening, I was in it until the end. I was now a Reaper, and I already had a job.
I was falling through the air, thoughts racing in my head.
Was I insane?
Would I ever go to Heaven?
Will I ever play Bioshock?
These were just a few examples, but the most prominent question I asked was simple and short.
How would I manage to kill?

My DVD is almost here!!

Posted by ChimChime Jan. 7, 2009 @ 7:31 PM EST

YAYYY!!! IT'S ALMOST HERE!!!
A few days ago, I ordered a DVD off of americanparkour.com !!! It should be here tomorrow!! =D It will teach me the basics of Parkour =D I've been training, excersising, and working non-stop for 3 weeks in preparation for Parkour =D =D This DVD will teach me how to run up walls, jump off said walls, roll on the ground (in an uber-cool fashion) and do tons of other cool stuff ;D I must be more cautious than normal, however; Parkour can be a dangerous sport if not done properly. Luckily, though, this DVD will teach me like a professional would! =D So happy, cheery cheer happy...

AFFECTION!
(By the way, that picture is of David Belle performing a one-handed vault. David Belle is the founder of Parkour!! He's so awesome...)

Death in A Nutshell, Ch. 2

Posted by ChimChime Jan. 3, 2009 @ 9:43 PM EST

Here it is!! Chapter 2! Thanks for waiting, oh so few who read this! It is short of short, but It accomplishes what I want it to this chapter. Don't worry, I'll explain everything next chapter, because this leaves many questions.

Death in A Nutshell Chapter 2
Echoes of Life
It hit me with enough force to crush a rhinoceros. I couldn't even make a sound, the pain was so intense. I had never felt anything like this before. My parent's had always told that only one thing in the world could hurt this much; Perhaps, is this excruciating pain, that I wish would just end and let me go on with my life, what being in love feels like?
"CROATH!" I heard Rin scream. Her voice was distorted and unnatural. Mentis stood next to her, his face in shock. He yelled something out. "Chroath, in the name of Gem please live!" His voice was just as strange as Rin's. Even stranger. My mouth finally opened, and I was able to form a coherent sentence.
"The pain!! IT BURNS!! SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME!" The world was spinning around me, and, apparently, I was flying through the air. I looked around, my vision cloudy and inaccurate. The car that had hit me was carrying a shipment of Gem, probably headed to North Temple. The driver yelled "Whoops! Sorry, kid." And kept on going.
I finally landed, after being in the air for what seemed like a millennia. Unfortunately, I landed in the center of the street. Another car dashed past, and I was under it when it did just that. "CHROATH!!! NO!!" Rin broke down in tears. "Don't worry, Rin... I'll be fine..." I muttered. Blood pooled around me. Clearly, I was not going to be fine. I fainted, my vision now black, my head in a storm. I didn't know how the rest of by body fared, because I couldn't feel them.
"Come on, GO! Summon the Gem, NOW!!"
"Sir, we can't do that. This is the Psyche-Less boy."
"Do you think I care? GO AND GET THE GEM!"
"Sir, we can't!"
"I SAID I DON'T CARE! I'LL MAKE THE TOOLS AND SAVE THE BOY MYSELF! GET THE GEM!!!"
"ALRIGHT!"
Flashing lights surrounded me, and a siren blared inside my head. Was I... Dead?
"This boy is not dead yet!! Ah, finally! The Gem!"
"Ah...GAH!!!! So many lacerations... I can't handle this..."
Of course you can!! You're a doctor!!
"Sir, don't worry, we have Gem. We can try, at least."
At least?
"Fine."
Stupid Gem.
I could see just enough. The woman screaming, demanding gem, was the head of the Attero Heart hospital. Her name was Amanda Stiles, I think.
Attero Heart was the ONLY hospital in South, and, luckily, was not far from where I lived. That must be where I am. Unfortunately, our funding was low, so we didn't even have hospital beds. I realized I was laying on a wooden table.
"Alright... Psyche-Share established... Now!" Amanda said, a shard of Gem in her hand. Four doctors burst out of the Gem, wearing purple clothing, clutching purple instruments. Purple, Purple... The color of Gem.
"Go, Gem!! Save this child!"
It already knows what you want it to do, you know.
The illusory doctors attempted to heal me, but froze. Those fools had attempted a Psyche-Share with me.
"NO!" Amanda yelled, her face wild.
The Gem refused to help me, held still by my unnatural mind.
No one could save me now, except Gem. A hysterical voice erupted from the corner of the room. "CROATH!! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHYYYY!!!!????" Ha... Rin always was the only one of us to overreact when something so small happened.
"NOOO!!!"
A startling flash of light erupted from in front of my eyes. Suddenly, all of my pain was gone. I sat up, a smile on my face. "See, guys? I'm fine!! I hopped of the uncomfortable table and went to hug Rin, to tell her I was here and alive. Before I even took one step towards her, she collapsed, sliding out of her chair. Mentis was slamming his head against the wall like a madman. I stared back at the doctors, those who had tried to save me, and their faces were blank, emotionless. "What's wrong??" I said, confused. I felt something on my shoulder, and flipped back around. A metallic, cold face, resembling that of an aged skull, looked me in the eye. "Who... Who are you?" I mumbled, surprised.
"Well, me? I'm your friend! I'm the one whose going to teach you alllll about Death, and being a Reaper! By the way, nice Death back there! I haven't seen something that flashy since the first Reaper himself!"
"WHAT?! "
Whatever was happening to me, it was something that was inconceivably strange
Well, then.
"Strange" is a concept that I'm used to.

A Poem

Posted by ChimChime Jan. 3, 2009 @ 6:15 PM EST

I wrote a poem today. If you can guess what kind of poem it is, I'll put 4 "=D" in my response. It's not very good, being my first poem and whatnot, but it's short, and it shouldn't bore you. Unlike my other works lol ;D

If Death is so close
Why do we bother to fight?
I ask this question
Because in each of our souls
Lies a different truth
Some plead no reason
Others do not speak at all
Why, why do I fight?

Upon my world the sun shines
Bright above us all
Illuminating our paths
That is my reason
As long as this world shines bright
Hope shall be with thee
And I shall forever fight
Those who spread Darkness

No matter who dark we seem
There is always Light
Shining from our very souls
Will you fight as well?
What do you believe is right?
Will thee fight for Light?
Or whilst thou battle for Darkness?
The choice is yours
Dark and Light shall never rest
Just as I refrain
From ever ceasing to fight

Yahoo!! Life is a blast!

Posted by ChimChime Jan. 2, 2009 @ 4:37 PM EST

Ah... Life is great, isn't it? I'm enjoying it greatly. I love working (Yeah, I said it), I recently started Parkour, and it is so fun. Even the working out that is required is fun!! Writing, even though not many people give a crap about my stories, is the light of my day. I'm part of a guild in Warhammer Online, and I was recently elected Council Overseer! For all you non-WAR people out there, that's a big deal. Basically, it's third-in-command in the guild, behind the leader and second-leader. I get to help plan events, and generally make sure our guild functions. It's geekish awesome-ness. In my daily life, I have so many opprotunities to help people. That, too, is one of my favorite parts of the day. Even if America's economy is not doing too well, I don't mind. It is NOT going to destroy us. America and Americans have gone through so much worse; The Depression, World Wars, and 9/11. We have been hit hard, but we've always gotten back up, and this recession is just another obstacle in our path. We can and will get past it.
People mock me, and I only have a few friends, but I don't mind. The world is just such a wonderful place, no matter what happens to me now, I can always work on it tomorrow. However much pain I endure one day, I can always smile and say "Tomorrow is almost here!". I practice my writing, and the more I practice, the better I get. It will take years for me to get anything near basic writing talent, but maybe one day, my stories will actually be decent.
To everyone who is sad out there, and it reading this, know one thing: No matter how terrible you THINK your life is, you just have to remember that you will wake up tomorrow. I know people stricken with sickness, cursed with incurable diseases, and I've seen a 1 month old child with dozens of wires attached to him. I've seen people die before my eyes, become weak and fade away. I've helped people through sadness. Mostly, though, people call me stupid and tell me to get out. Why? Who knows, and I really don't care.
My grandmother once told me "Boy, you keep living. And live well." However bad you think your life is, you can always improve. Keep looking forward, because looking back never does anything but drag you down.
By the way, I know most people don't care what I say. It's basically the same in real life. Have fun, and live well!!!!!!!

Storybook Project 2009 Second/Third Stories

Posted by ChimChime Dec. 31, 2008 @ 11:03 AM EST

Here's my second story. This one is not made for anything except this project. It's kinda long, though.

Four brave souls, each desperately clutching a weapon, stood in front of a large brass door. Some held books with incantations scribbled over them, others chose shining silver swords.
"Is everyone ready? I am quite sure we won't make it out alive. But, do not despair; Even if we ourselves cannot live, we shall make the world, as a whole, a better place through our actions." said a Knight, clad in glistening white armor, a sword and shield in hand. A gold lion was painted onto his chest plate, its mouth wide open and roaring, revealing one cracked tooth.
"Y-Yeah, You're right! For just this one time in my life, I can be courageous!" bellowed a Priest, holding a Book of Prayer covered in ancient runes. His robe went down to his feet, colored sky-blue. The runes on his book glowed white.
"Whatever. All I care about is battle." said a skillful Assassin, her eyes emotionless and blank. She held two silver daggers, and was dressed in an all-black cloak. All you could see was her eyes.
"Cut the chatter, cowards. Let's go kill us some Evil!" mused a Wizard, wearing heavy, long robes, a staff strapped to his back. All of his equipment was light green, with dark green around the edges.
"Alright, my friends. The time has come for us to change the world. Are all ready?" The Knight's hand was already on the ominous brass door.
His compatriots all nodded their heads, a different thought running through their heads.
Can we really change the world?
W-..Will I be strong enough?
Hmph. Battle is battle.
C'mon, let's just GO!
"NOW!"
They dashed into the room, the Knight and Assassin heading straight for their nemesis, while the Wizard and Priest kept their distance.
A large, charcoal-colored dragon towered over our heroes. He taunted them, his terrifying eyes tracking them all around the room.
"Kekeke... I see you fools have finally arrived... Shall I make this fun, or will I make it hard? Hmm... So many choices...Kekeke..."
"Quiet, Demon!!" shouted the Knight, his sword held high. "DIE!" Our brave Knight plunged his blade into the dragon's stomach, causing the tyrant to shriek with pain.
"ACK!... Ohh... That tickles..."
The Knight withdrew his sword from his foe's stomach, only to find that the blade was melted.
"He is resistant to physical attacks! Alex, quickly! Attack him!"
"I...Ah...Okay! May Aestus maris of Neptune exsisto animadverto per mihi quod eradicate qui threaten is universities!!" Our Wizard chanted an ancient and powerful spell, raw energy swirling and crackling around him, until he could not contain it any more.
"Inundantia!" he yelled, and water appeared over the dragon's head.
"Is water the best you can do..." said the dragon, a bored look on his face.
The dangerous water flew into his open maw, and went into his throat.
"Permissum Glacies fio of Aestus maris EGO have accersitus , quod permissum lemma insolitus meus contradictio!"
A load crack resonated throughout the massive room, and the dragon's face turned a bright blue. Gasping for air, he collapsed and did not move.
"Alex, you did it!" the heroes cheered, grabbing Alex and throwing him into the air.
"Yes, Alex, what exactly did you DO?"
"I just flooded water into his throat, and then solidified it inside."
A low grumble shook the room, as the dragon lifted itself back up, ready to fight again.
"AhAhA...ThAt HuRt A LoT... WhY DiD YoU Do ThAt? NoW, I aM MaD..."
All four fighters gasped, shock dashed across their faces.
"Now, I'm afraid, playtime is over. I will have to end this." the dragon said, a toothy grin on his distorted face. He opened his maw, and breathed in massive amounts of air. He swallowed it all, and began to breathe out.
"DIE, LITTLE HUMANS!"
A jet of blue fire erupted from inside the dragon, and sped towards our warriors.
The Knight quickly issued commands to his team.
"Everyone, run towards the door!" His group obeyed.
The Knight dashed towards the fire, shield and sword held high.
"Even if I die... So too shall YOU!"
He threw his sword high into the air, aimed at the dragon. As it flew threw the air, all of the Knight's companions watched in awe, scared for their lives and their friend's.
The dragons fire had reached him. Flames engulfed the Knight's body, searing his armor off, and scorching his skin. He screamed in agony, and fell to the ground.
"It seems this little skirmish was all in vain, no?" said the dragon, a sly smile on his face.
"Hehe... No, it was not, tyrant. You will die, make no mistake."
"What could you possibly mean? I am an almighty dragon, nothing could st-"
His sentence was interrupted as the Knight's sword pierced his throat.
"AHHH!!!!" He screamed, his neck writhing and thrashing about.
"Gotcha..." murmured the Knight, color draining from his face, his eyes solemn.
Both collapsed to the ground, ceasing to move. This time, not one got up to fight again.

And here is my third story

A grey wolf stood over an arrangement of pilots, barking orders and constantly howling. It had taken Wolf seven years to form this army, and he would not fail this time.
He spent countless hours hand picking and training each recruit, until each pilot was capable of destroying that wretched Fox in their sleep.

The time had come, and Wolf was ready.
He inspected his ship of terror, the ship of the blood-red wolf, the ship he would ride into chaos, and smiled a deathly smile.
"The time is here. Fox will be MINE!"

Wolf and his army sped into the dark reaches of space. They were flying to Sector X, which, thanks to that moronic fox, had been purified of it's acidic qualities. Finally, they arrived.

Wolf stood on top of his ship, and yelled to his pack.
"Fox lies in that base, that sorry excuse for a hideout! Today! We will crush him, destroy him, and make sure he NEVER flies again. DEATH BE UPON ALL WHO OPPOSE US!! WOLVES, LET US FLY INTO THE DEEP, AND COME OUT WITH THE FOX HELD HIGH! OUR MOMENT HAS COME!! GO! FLY! WE SHALL TAKE HIM BY FORCE, AND HE WILL NOT RETURN HERE EVER, EVER AGAIN!" Wolf screamed at the top of his lungs, and let out a blood thirsty howl. His army. His plan. Foxe's death. This was perfect.

Wolf led the assault. Crimson red ships flew every direction. They poured into Foxe's base, firing plasma, lasers, bombs, and all manner of weaponry inside. Explosions rattled the very air, and the shock of the blasts reverberated throughout the base.

Little did his band of fighters know that, in exactly 5 seconds, Wolf would tear the base apart with one, single bomb. Wolf said to himself, "Sacrifice Is necessary, and began the count down.

5.
"Get ready everyone! Fox will be here soon!"
4.
Wolf's claws reached closer and closer to the fatal trigger.
3.
Foxe's base was torn apart. In the center of it all stood one blue, hopeful ship.
2.
The blue fighter ignited. It's engines screamed, roared, they were begging to fly.
1.
"MHWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! FOX, YOUR TIME IS UP! SAY GOODBYE, STAR FOX!"
Wolf rammed his claw onto the trigger; The bomb dropped. His Army was decimated in one single blow. He was all that remained. Or so he thought.

That one jet, that single, recurring nightmare in Wolf's life, was flying high. Unscathed by the bomb, it's pilot whispered into his intercom. Wolf only heard one thing: "Wolf, you'll never catch me."

A ray of plasma slammed into Wolf's hull. The smell of burning iron filled his nose, and the sound of a fierce laughter emitted from his intercom. How could this be? Everything was perfect. He had his Army. He had a plan. He had EVERYTHING. And it was all ruined by one single fox.

Nothing, not even Wolf's Army, could stop one single Fox.
As Wolf plummeted toward the ground, the very little which existed in Sector X, only one thing was in his mind.

He would be back. And he would win.
